A good cop is never Cold, Wet or Hungry. Police Officers tend to live by this statement–we’ve all heard it a million times. As the winter season approaches and the big New Year’s overtime is weeks away, there’s no better time to prepare your cold weather gear.
Every year I turn to these small, but essential items to make my hours on patrol a little more bearable. Having two little ones at home, I decided not to drag them out to the Buff-Shop (Authorized Uniform Store) store, but get front-door delivery service instead. I turned to Amazon.com for a quick and easy delivery.
Here are (5) must have cold weather items to have in your patrol bag:
Balaclava: This full face mask is a great purchase for only 7.99. It’s thin enough to wear under your 8 point cap, but still provides protection and keeps the cool air at bay.
Heat Packs: You never want to be caught without these heated packs. I always leave extra in my patrol bag just in case a fellow officer needs one. Amazon provides 10 for under $10.
A good pair of Dickies Socks: This is a no-brainer, but often forgotten. Not too thick but not too thin. The fit has to be just right. 6 Pair for under $10
Protein Bars: A good Cop is never hungry. I usually keep these snacks in my patrol bag, because I’m always hungry. There are so many Protein bars on the market, but I chose these because they actually taste good.
Columbia Navy Neck Warmer: If the Balaclava is too much for you, this neck warmer is a great second option for keeping warm.
