I have to admit I am a bit of a tomboy. On a good day even outside of work, you can catch me with a ponytail and a fresh face (no makeup). I’m all around Plain Jane.
I would like to make a small change to my everyday norm. I’m going to incorporate quick makeup essentials that will be easy to apply and have great impact. I need something that will last through my day shift and then to my son’s parent-teacher night. Let’s be clear I’m not looking for a full face makeover, just the essentials. I called my Co-worker and friend Almira who is also a Cop-Wife-Mom to take the hot seat as the model and help me with my; makeup lesson of the day.
We took a ride to the local mall and visited the MAC Counter at Bloomingdale’s, to get a little one-on-one attention and tutorial.
We explained to our Make-Up-Artist Kelly our day to day schedules as a Cop and our busy lives after work. Kelly understood completely as she has family on the job and they often ask her about a day to night look. The goal quick 15-25min makeup application. I want my results to leave me with moisturized skin, even tone, nice neutral colors that can be worn into the evening.
-BB/CC Cream: A base moisturizer with SPF and primer, which are commonly called, BB Cream or CC Cream. This is a lighter alternative than a foundation. This product can even uphold or last a light workout. Not as heavy as a foundation but light enough to give you an even tone and breathable coverage.
-Eye Shadows: If used correctly, this can be a great touch that can enhance your look. Staying with neutral or earth tone color palettes is recommended.
-Eyeliner: Doing both top and lower can be a bit too much, but if you go lighter on the bottom liner it will tone down the overall effect. Extending the eyeliner to have “Wings” is trendy right now, but I can’t master that craft as of yet. Sorry, Kelly.
-Mascara: Never forget to apply a heavy coat of mascara. One essential item that will brighten your eyes and goes a long way.
-Lipstick: No reds, but nice pale colors and light pinks would be sufficient.
My goal for a quick 15-25min makeup application, completed!! Results will leave you with moisturized skin with Spf coverage and an even tone complexion. The neutral color pallet leaves you looking like a natural beauty and still appropriate for work. I may forget all about this makeup stuff but I’m happy for my tutorial on how to step out of my comfort zone in uniform with the best of them. Thank you, Kelly and Almira!
